Jade Thirlwall is crowned Star Baker

Little Mix's Jade Thirlwall hailed
this week's Star Baker

The fourth episode of The Great Stand Up To Cancer Bake Off featured Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall, JJ Olatunji (or KSI as he’s known), comedian Katherine Ryan, and Stacey Dooley. The group left many viewers (as well as the judges Prue and Paul) in complete shock and hysterics over their baking skills (or lack of) throughout the show. It was KSI's debacles in the tent that proved to be the best entertainment.

Starting the show with the Signature bake, celebrities were asked to create a batch of nine identical fondant fancies inspired by their favourite cocktail. Katherine Ryan made gluten-free espresso martini fancies, while KSI's was strawberry daquiri inspired, described by Prue as "sugar upon sugar upon sugar". This round gave viewers a glimpse in to KSI's baking knowledge as he read instructions to “beat the butter until smooth”, quite literally punching the ingredients in his mixing bowl. A unique take on a traditional baking technique. Meanwhile Stacey's Signature was described as “Messy but delicious” by Prue. KSI went on to muster up some interesting looking bakes. The Technical challenge saw the YouTuber attempting to make a cherry lattice pie with custard. Turning his pie upside down was arguably a metaphor for the rest of his baking performance! The moment of shock this episode came in the shape of a Hollywood Handshake for JJ - not without total disbelief from JJ himself, as well as viewers across the country.

For the final Showstopper, the real time of judgement for these famous faces, the celebrities had to create a 3D biscuit meringue scene inspired by something they couldn't live without.

Despite being rejected by Paul Hollywood for a handshake, it was obvious that Little Mix's Jade's efforts would earn her the coveted Star Baker apron by the end of the show. Jade said, "I can't believe it, I'm in shock. My mam will be so proud. I think I might need a framed apron or I might just wear it all the time to remind myself of my success."

Next week marks the finale of the show including Ade Adepitan, Anneka Rice, John Bishop and Nadine Coyle.
