Helen's tips

Helen was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014. Now, Helen is Standing Up To Cancer with us.

As a personal trainer and exercise fanatic, Helen’s top tip for standing up all day is to stack chairs away or put things on the chairs or the sofa to avoid temptation of sitting down!

Stand together. Save lives.

Need-to-knows

Stay safe when standing up

When planning your day ensure that you stay safe and take breaks from what you're doing so you can stay focused and maintain your balance.

If you're doing it in front of a computer screen, don't forget to safely adjust the height of your screen so you don't hurt your neck.

Can I go to the toilet?

It's allowed and a necessity. No judgement here.

Do I have to do it on Friday 15 October?

We’re encouraging everyone to Stand Up To Cancer together on Friday 15 October but if you have plans which means you can’t stay vertical that day don’t worry, pick a day that suits you. Every penny you raise will go towards life-saving cancer research.

What if I have mobility issues?

If Standing Up all day isn’t for you, you can still get involved. Whether you’re doing a handstand every half hour, standing with your walking stick for as long as you can, standing with the help of someone else or holding a wheelie while you sing “I’m still standing”. If it’s a challenge for you, then it’s sure to get the donations rolling in and that’s how you really Stand Up To Cancer. Stand Up for as long as you can, or as long as is safe, and follow our top tips to make your Stand Up as easy, fun and lucrative as possible.

Where can I find more fundraising materials?

When you sign up you'll receive a link to a downloadable fundraising guide and extra materials are available for you to make as much life-saving cash as possible.

How do I pay in my fundraising?

Whether you've raised a small or large amount, every pound will go towards funding life-saving cancer research. You can also find more information and can pay in your fundraising money via your Giving Page, or on our Fundraise page.
