The fourth set of bakers; Top Gear's Paddy McGuinness, Nolan Sister Coleen, Inbetweener Actor Joe Thomas and Comedian Ellie Taylor took on three separate challenges in attempt to win Star Baker. First up was the Signature Bake where bakers were tasked with making 12 identical Jaffa Cakes in 2 hours. Next was the technical, which saw the bakers creating four Cheese and Onion Slices with a flaky rough puff pastry, with Paddy winning this round.
In the final task, the Showstopper, the bakers had to make a 3D biscuit scene of their hometown. Collen opted to recreate the famous Blackpool Tower whilst Paddy tried to build Bolton Chimney by stacking 150 gingerbread rings. Essex born Joe chose to recreate his childhood happy place which is Chelmsford Bus Station and Ellie’s took a trip down under to showcase her husband’s hometown Sydney to form the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge. Prue awarded Ellie high praise, calling her bridge “neat and so beautifully done.”
In the end, Joe won the coveted Star Baker apron, having earnt high praise from Hollywood about his construction of the bus station, saying it looks like the photograph and the gingerbread is the best he’s had for a long time.
Tune in next week to see more baking fabs and fails in with Jay Blades, Judi Love, Mike Wozniak and Deborah Meaden.
